Total films watched in 2013: 96

April was an odd moviegoing month.  After my busiest month in recent memory (launching Review the World 2.0) in March I'd set my sights on getting caught up on a lot of films.  Unfortunately I fell short of my aspirations by quite a bit.  I often wasn't able to even start movies until around 1AM and I'm usually up by 5-7:30AM so was often too tired to finish anything in a single setting (don't even get me started on Lincoln which I unsuccessfully attempted several times and finally had to return the Blu-ray to the library due to mounting late fees but will revisit).

I'm refocused for May and intend on having a strong month.  Besides newer releases and things that pique my interest (got a bunch of direct-to-DVD Disney sequels I'm inexplicably curious about) I've also compiled a list off of TSPDT's 21st Century's Most Acclaimed Films countdown of all the films I've never seen off of it and will be putting many of them into my rotation in the months to come.  Excited about that.  Have a great month and grab me some Buncha Crunch and a small buttered popcorn and I'll meet you in the middle aisle!

  1. I have come to the conclusion that you sir are a cinema cyborg. How else to explain how someone can be a husband & father & work a job *&* see all these movies? I work two jobs & am single yet I struggle with just keeping my DVR clean by watching my favorite television shows. The mind boggles, Brian, the mind boggles...

    1. You know, it's funny, the lengths I'll go to get my cinema fix in. I'm in the same boat as you though that my DVR eats up much of my free time between sitcoms, 'toons, and MMA/wrestling.If it wasn't for having cable I could easily see myself doubling if not more my movie intake somewhere in the ballpark of 50+ a month. Some months I still manage 30+ now. I went into it a bit at the end of the update linked below but I was off this month -- I don't know if it was the amount of near 3+ hr. films (Hobbit, Zero Dark, Lincoln, etc.) but I kept crashing, re-starting the next night, repeat, etc.

I bunkered down toward the end and one night I even went out of my way to drink a NOS energy drink before a particulary challenging double-header (in terms of length/not quality; Three Times & White Material). Another problem I face is I often can't get started until 10PM-11PM after Amanda and the kids are asleep, and if I watch anything off the DVR or surf the 'net any, it's often past midnight before I get a DVD in and I'm generally up by 5:30-7:30AM. I've actually felt my right eyelid spasming this week due lack of/quality of sleep. It's still a work in progress but if I stay motivated I think I can keep developing my routine.
